Run Wild 5K Run/Walk "Fur the Animals"

Run Wild 5K Run/Walk "Fur the Animals" and Movin' In Brookhaven Fitness Fun Day

 

Supervisor Ed Romaine and Brookhaven Highway Superintendent Daniel P. Losquadro invite you to kick off the summer by participating in the upcoming Run Wild "Fur the Animals" 5K Run/Walk on Saturday, June 10, benefiting the Brookhaven Wildlife Center, Inc. and the Kaeli Kramer Foundation. The Brookhaven Wildlife Center is the sole provider of food and veterinary care for the 100+ animals residing at the Holtsville Ecology Center. The Kaeli Kramer Foundation provides sanctuary for farm animals and horses, including mustangs Callie and Valor, who reside at the Ecology Site year-round. Pre-register for the Walk/Run at elitefeats.com by June 9; entry fee is $25 for pre-registration and $30 day of the race. Registration and check-in starts at 7:30 a.m. and the race begins at 9 a.m. Awards will be given to the top three male and female overall winners and the top three male and female winners in their age groups. Sweet tech t-shirts are guaranteed to the first 100 registrants.

 

Following the 5K, which begins and ends at the Holtsville Ecology Site, residents can enjoy a free day of fitness classes and programs beginning at 10:30 a.m., including and arts and crafts fair, Chinese auction, health care screenings, a farmer's market, face painting, a puppet show and animal education programs. Offering Free Adoptions in June

 

The Town of Brookhaven Animal Shelter and Adoption Center will celebrate the start of summer with free adoptions through the month of June. The normal adoption fees of $137 for a dog and $125 for a cat will be waived and include free neuter or spay, vaccinations, microchip, license, heartworm test, flea and fecal. Those who are interested in adopting a dog or cat should visit the Brookhaven Animal Shelter and Adoption Center located at 300 Horseblock Road in Brookhaven.
